Family Fun Night - Movies in the ParkFamily Fun Night – Movies in the Park

I want all my clients with children to know about Movies in the Park nights. It’s a great opportunity for your kids to make friends, especially if you’ve just moved here. I’m an old Army brat and remember that it was tough to make friends in new places. If you move here in the summer, as most people do, then these events will be a great way for your kids to mingle before they start school.

Movies in the Park is put on by the City of Spring Hill Parks and Recreation service. It was originally sponsored solely by Charter Communications, who rented all the equipment and movies for the event. They would host the events all summer long and stop when it started to get cold.

Due to the slow economy, Charter has pulled back their support a little bit, so Kevin Fischer, the director of Spring Hill’s Parks and Recreation service, found several new sponsors for the event and purchased all the equipment that they had been renting. Since the city now owns all the equipment, Movies in the Park will be able to continue indoors during the cold months.

Movies in the Park nights are on the 4th Sat. of every month during the summer. The pre-movie activities start at 5:00 pm in Harvey Park in Spring Hill. It’s really quite a production including, “live music, games, inflatables, kids karaoke, free food and much more.” It’s also completely free, but the city does ask they you bring a non-perishable food item or make a donation to The Well food bank.

Please check www.springhilltn.org/movienight.htm for confirmation of dates and movie titles. The last event for Summer ’09 was the Halloween showing of “Igor” on Oct. 24th. I’ll post again once an indoor location and schedule are provided for the Winter.
